Diya Makwana is an international student currently pursuing her education at St. George's Anglican English School, having previously studied at Maneckji Cooper School. Public Speaker
A public speaker at heart, Diya has developed strong skills in academic writing, lobbying, and public speaking, all of which she uses to advocate for important causes. Her goal is to promote the vision of a “New India” through outreach, academic writing, and public engagement. Diya has earned multiple Best Delegate awards in Model United Nations (MUN) and debate competitions, showcasing her ability to think critically and communicate effectively on a global scale.
Volunteer
In addition to her public speaking and advocacy work, Diya has demonstrated leadership and team coordination as Vice House Captain at Maneckji Cooper School. She successfully organized and led various school events, such as sports day competitions, fostering teamwork and spirit within her school community. Her volunteer efforts have extended beyond the school environment, as she continually seeks opportunities to contribute to meaningful causes and help others. Diya’s passion for volunteering is driven by her desire to make a difference and use her platform to uplift those in need.
Diya’s passion for volunteering recently led her to an incredible opportunity at the United Nations. From manning the front desk to assisting with setup and cleanup, it was a rewarding experience to contribute to an event of such global significance. The highlight of her experience was meeting Randhir Amoganthan and witnessing a fascinating panel discussion on sustainable businesses. The panel was truly enlightening, exploring how businesses can be a force for good while maintaining sustainability.
Interests
In her personal life, Diya spent seven years as a classical dancer, where she developed discipline, determination, and the ability to collaborate in a team setting. Her experiences in dance further strengthened her work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Diya is also an active participant in various extracurricular activities, including being a member of her school’s debate team and honing her drumming skills. Her wide range of interests demonstrates her commitment to personal growth and the development of new talents outside of academics.
Driven by a desire to apply her academic journey to real-world challenges, Diya is eager to take on opportunities that allow her to leverage her skills in public speaking, volunteering, writing, and leadership.
